Mom's Borscht (Beet Soup) |

Ingredients |

- 3 cups peeled, shredded beets
- 3 cups diced carrots
- 1 cup fresh or frozen peas
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dill
- 7 cups water
- 1/2 cup half and half cream (optional)
- sour cream (optional)
- Knives
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cup
- Large sauce pan with lid

Borscht with Sour Cream |
Add ingredients (not cream or sour cream) to large sauce pan. Simmer all ingredients until beets, peas and carrots are cooked. Serve.

| For a richer variety of this Borscht recipe stir in 1/2 cup half and half cream to the pan or add a dollop (heaping tablespoon) of sour cream to the bowl while serving. |
