Recipes by Mom -- Christmas Tree Cookies

Christmas Tree Cookies

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and sea salt. Set aside. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Add the flour mixture and stir to combine. Divide the dough in half. Roll one half on a lightly floured board to about 1/8-inch thick. Using your cookie cutter, cut out tree shapes and transfer to a foil or parchment-lined cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough. With a round-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the center of each cookie. Sort the LifeSavers by color. Crush each color and set aside.Fill the center of each cookie with crushed candy. Using a straw, punch a hole in the top of each cookie. Chill cookies for 15 minutes. Bake in a 375º F oven for 6 – 8 minutes. Slide the cookies off the tray and cool. Thread ribbon through the top hole of each cookie and hang on your Christmas tree. Enjoy! Makes 24 cookies.
